What did children play with in the Bronze Age? And how did a fancy stove look like 600 years ago? You can get answers to these questions as you wander among the rich collection of the Bálint Balassa Museum spanning thousands of years. In the nearly 2,000-piece exhibition, there are exhibits from the Neolithic onwards:

  • 16-18th century furniture, such as a cradle table and scissor-legged chair
  • the Helischer museum book collection
  • collection of weapons from the Turkish era
  • 19th century coronation coins
  • ship models brought here from the legacy of sea captain Sándor Nagy
  • crafts showing objects, such as the tools of the gingerbread maker, candle maker, cooper, bogner and blue dyer workshop
  • folk costumes of the surrounding villages, memories of nation daily life
  • Sigismund-era stove tiles from Water Town
  • Bronze age rattles and children’s toys

TIP

In the corridor of the museum, we can see the swirling wheel and try how to steer a large ship.
