We thought we would help you and have collected the best-known places in Esztergom, where ice cream representing traditional and special flavors are prepared with heart and soul. Moreover, you can even find Peppa Pig and Spider-Man in the form of ice cream in some places! We introduce to you the places where you definitely can’t stand at least one scoop of ice cream!
On the main square of Esztergom, Széchenyi Square, you will soon find two ice cream locations. At Café La Fontana, most of the Italian-made artisanal ice creams are gluten-free, and the fruit ice creams are dairy-free. Here are popular salted caramel, kinder, almond and – which is out of stock in many places – pistachio. You can find Ettore Cukrászda, which has more than three decades of history, on the corner of Széchenyi square and Lőrinc street. Here also, there is everything that attracts the eyes and mouth. Its branch, the Ettore Ice Cream Shop, is located at the bottom of the Bástya Department Store building, where the Szamóca Ice Cream Shop is also a few meters away. On the other side of the road is the famous Szamos Marzipan confectionary, where is the best-seller – the Szatmári Szilva – of course in ice cream and not brandy – in addition to the premium quality ice creams, the famous country cake and the Esztergom coffee specialties are also available. Last but not least, that Mártika’s Fitt Shop in the new Esztergom Market offers both traditional scoop and machine ice cream!
In the Szenttamás district, you will find the Museum Confectionery. Although the place has been operating under the name Pizza6 for some time, the ice cream has remained, with Bourbon vanilla and Sicily being the most popular at the moment. You can find one of the pastry shops of the Kovács family, known in the area, on Basa Street. Their artisanal ice cream with a high fruit content are gluten- and dairy-free. And if you move towards to Castle Hill, in front of Primates Basement, next to Tourinform Point, you will find Manna Ice Fagyizó, where they also offer a classic ice cream treat with scoops! On the Kis-Duna promenade, there is the well-known Dunakorzó Café, which will continue to operate under the name “A Korzó” from June 2023, under the management of Olivér Kmetko, with a renewed range of handmade cakes and ice cream.
We also introduce two places on Primates Island that offer delicious ice cream. In HATÁR Ice Cream, you can also find Spider-Man in the form of scooped ice cream, but the real specialty here is the self-made rolled, or Thai ice cream. At the Nagy Duna Promenade, at the old ferry port, at the Easy Living Ice Cream and Meeting Point, Ettore’s handcrafted delicacies await you!
In the Szentgyörgymező district, we recommend Gomba Fagyizó, where they offer heavenly cooked and machine-made ice cream. The Osztermann Confectionery is located in the Kovács district, on Sugár highway, where you can also buy Peppa Pig’s favourite, which is loved by children. And if you go to Kertváros to take a dip by the Palatinus lake, be sure to visit the Napsugár Fagyizó located in Tópart street, and also in Kertváros, in Mikes Kelemen street – another branch – Kovács Cukrászda, where they also offer machine ice cream in addition to scoops!
