Visitors to Esztergom will be welcomed with local products, homemade flavors, family programs and cozy concerts on May 1 in the heart of the city center, on Simor János Street.
The ceremonial opening of the new Esztergom Market begins at 9:30 a.m., where Ádám Hernádi, the mayor of the Esztergom County City, and György Popovics, the president of the Komárom-Esztergom County Self-Government, will give greetings. The special feature of the opening day is that, in addition to the new market, the one-year anniversary of Esztergom’s status as a city with county rights will also be celebrated.

At 11 a.m., the Strigonium Consort (folk band of Esztergom), will perform a Renaissance concert on the stage set up in front of the market. Thanks to Babits Mihály Theatre, you can watch Milne’s classic Winnie the Pooh in the form of a puppet show from 12:00 p.m. From 2 p.m., the talents of the Esztergom Dance Group will entertain the audience, and from 2:30 p.m., the widely known Jóvilágvan band from Párkany will give a fantastic concert. Last but not least, the local alternative rock band Szépülő Városközpont will play the strings from 4:30 p.m. The children can enjoy a bouncy castle, balloon folding and a “Mini Market” all day long, but there will also be a Selfie Zoom, where you can take home the photos taken of you!

Of course, you can’t miss out the shopping either, as local producers and artisans will be offering their products in the shops and on the tables, but there will also be delicious locally baked food! On the market square, you can find, among other things, shops where you can buy high quality dairy products, fruits and vegetables, pastry, organic and vegan products, pickles, raw and smoked butcher’s products, as well as flowers in a renewed environment. In addition, you can also enjoy a delicious traditional Hungarian Langos, BBQ, steaks, fried sausages and blood sausages!
